What is EMRS?
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) was established in 1999 to extend a more focused approach to the integrated socio-economic development of the Scheduled Tribes (STs), India’s weakest section, in a coordinated and planned manner. Since its inception, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has worked to implement a variety of initiatives aimed at improving the overall well-being of tribal people across the country. Among these, the Ministry has focused on providing quality education to ST students, as educational development is a stepping stone to economic and social development, as well as the most effective instrument for overall empowerment.
The Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) for ST students have been set up to establish quality residential schools and promote education in all areas and habitations across the country. EMRS Scheme encompasses Eklavya Model Residential Schools, Eklavya Model Day Boarding Schools, and the Centre of Excellence for Sports.
The goal is to provide high-quality upper primary, secondary, and senior secondary education to the Scheduled Tribes (ST) students in rural areas, allowing them to take advantage of the best educational opportunities and bringing them up to par with the general population (as mentioned in the official notification).
Joining A Profession with such a noble cause is a dream to many!
