Government jobs are the most desirable among everyone due to their benefits and security including women who are seeking employment opportunities. The private sector is in disarray as the global recession is knocking on the door. There have been plenty of layoffs in the big MNCs across the world. Thus, the question of getting secure government employment opportunities has been on top of everyone’s minds. Among this group of job seekers, it’s no wonder that the women of the country are also seeking government job opportunities for better growth prospects in the future.

However, we must keep in mind that no job is meant specifically for any particular gender. We’re living in a world where men and women are working competitively, women are standing shoulder-to-shoulder with men in almost every field. Nevertheless, some women prefer certain jobs over others because of varied reasons like comfort or pay scale, etc. We’ll look into those government jobs for females. But before that let’s see why women prefer government jobs over private ones.

Why are government jobs preferred by women?

The following reasons aptly indicate why government jobs are preferred by women more than private jobs.

1.      Job Security: Everyone wants to have a stable career and women are no exception to that. Government jobs definitely offer better job security than the private sector. It is devoid of the uncertainties that private sector employees face during periods of recession or layoffs. This longevity in employment also helps women to grow further in their careers.

2.      Work-Life Balance: The fixed working hours in most government jobs attract many. A better work-life balance is a must for everyone as it helps keep you mentally, physically and emotionally fit. It is also comparatively easier to get leave in government jobs, which helps in dealing with uncertainties of life.

3.      Better Payment: The pay scale is comparatively better in the public sector for the similar kind of work in the private sector. Moreover, the promotions are given on a seniority basis without any gender bias. This helps women grow in their respective fields.

4.      Encouragement to Women: The government with its provisions has been promoting women’s employment in the public sector. There are reservations for women in certain State PSCs and fee exemptions have been provided in certain exams as well. Moreover, every page of the UPSC notification reads- ” Government strives to have a workforce which reflects gender balance and women candidates are encouraged to apply”, suggesting that the government is keen on employing more women in the public sector. This makes the government job for females, a better opportunity than the private jobs.

Uncover the realities that shape effective preparation strategies and challenge common myths, guiding you to success in the RBI Grade B examination. With ixambee’s RBI Grade B Online Course, aspirants can prepare for the exam more intricately.

  • Time Required for Preparation: In the evolving landscape of the RBI Grade B exam, the paradigm of preparation has shifted significantly. Gone are the days when candidates could afford a relatively brief 3-4 months window to prepare themselves for this challenging examination. The Quantitative and Reasoning segments pose formidable challenges, requiring aspirants to delve into intense, sustained practice. Subjects like Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning necessitate a more extended timeframe, at least 6-8 months, for candidates to acquire the proficiency essential for clearing the initial stages of the examination. The RBI Grade B exam’s contemporary intricacies warrant a paradigm shift in aspirants’ preparation timelines. A more protracted and focused approach, spanning at least 6-8 months, has become imperative to navigate the evolving challenges posed by the heightened difficulty levels and the multifaceted demands of the examination.
  • Myth of Commerce Background Advantage: Contrary to common perception, a Commerce background is not a prerequisite for success in the RBI Grade B exam. The official notification underscores the need for a “General Finance and Management” understanding, emphasizing the adequacy of a basic grasp of these subjects. Diligent preparation empowers candidates from non-Commerce backgrounds to stand on equal footing with their counterparts, dispelling the notion that specialized prior knowledge is essential. This inclusive approach ensures that aspirants, regardless of their educational background, can strive for success through focused and comprehensive exam preparation.
  • Impact of Answer-Writing Practice: Navigating through the Descriptive sections of exams can pose an initial challenge, but consistent practice in answer writing proves transformative—the experiences of toppers underscore the pivotal role of strategic answer-writing practice in achieving success. ixambee’s RBI Grade B Mock Tests and RBI Grade B Previous Year Papers will be helpful for candidates preparing for the exam. While grappling with the intricacies of descriptive portions may seem daunting initially, a disciplined approach to honing this skill can yield significant dividends. As evidenced by successful candidates, investing time and effort in regular answer-writing practice contributes substantially to mastering the art and science of responding effectively to descriptive questions, ultimately enhancing one’s performance in competitive exams.
  • No Preference for Working Professionals: Addressing a prevalent worry, it is essential to clarify that during RBI Grade B interviews, panelists do not exhibit a bias towards working or non-working candidates. The selection criteria revolve around knowledge, personality, confidence, and analytical abilities. The professional background of a candidate holds no precedence over these critical attributes, emphasizing that the interview process is impartial and focuses solely on the individual’s merit. Therefore, aspirants should channel their efforts into cultivating and showcasing these qualities, reassuring them that their chances of success are contingent on personal attributes rather than professional status.
  • Sufficient Preparation Time for Working Professionals: For working professionals aspiring to crack the RBI Grade B exam, success lies in strategic time allocation—committing 4-5 hours daily over a span of 6-8 months. The key is to prioritize schedules, make time for study during early mornings and evenings, and even utilize lunch breaks for revision. Consistency is paramount, and a focused approach ensures comprehensive coverage of the extensive syllabus. By adhering to this routine, working professionals can balance their professional commitments effectively while securing ample preparation time for the RBI Grade B examination.
  • Educational Background Misconceptions: Contrary to common assumptions, being an IIT or IIM graduate is not a prerequisite for the RBI Grade B exam. The minimum requirement is a 60% graduation score, opening the door for Arts and Commerce graduates. Numerous instances attest to the success of candidates from diverse educational backgrounds, dispelling the notion that specialized degrees are mandatory. With a year of focused preparation, Arts and Commerce graduates have met and excelled in the requirements, highlighting that dedication and adherence to the exam syllabus are critical to success.
  • Generalist Nature of RBI Grade B Officer: The role of an RBI Grade B Officer is that of a generalist rather than a specialist, necessitating a broad understanding of economic and social issues rather than a deep expertise in economics. While associated with the RBI, the position does not demand specialized knowledge in economics. The exam syllabus emphasizes Economic and Social Issues, encouraging candidates to grasp broader issues and fundamental concepts in banking and finance. Aspiring candidates need not be specialists but should focus on cultivating a holistic understanding of the economic landscape and its social implications to excel in the RBI Grade B examination.
  • Reading Numerous Books Not Mandatory: While RBI provides a list of recommended books in the syllabus, attempting to read all of them may be impractical. Instead, a practical approach involves daily reading of newspapers to stay informed about current affairs and enhance comprehension of finance concepts. This strategy lets candidates stay updated on relevant economic and social issues, a crucial aspect of RBI Grade B exam preparation. By focusing on real-world scenarios and timely information, candidates can build a solid foundation for tackling the exam’s challenges effectively.
  • Realistic Time Frame for Exam Preparation: Achieving success in the RBI Grade B exam within 3 months is an impractical expectation for most candidates. Building a robust foundation demands a more extended preparation period, typically around a year. This comprehensive timeframe allows aspirants to delve into quantitative aptitude, reasoning, English, economic and social issues, finance, and management. Candidates need adequate time for understanding, practice, and revision to establish a firm grasp of these diverse topics. While a focused revision might be achievable in 3 months, the initial groundwork requires a more realistic and extended commitment.
  • Hindi Medium Option: Contrary to common misconceptions, the RBI Grade B exam can indeed be attempted in Hindi. While the availability of Hindi resources may be relatively limited, it is feasible to undertake quality preparation in the Hindi medium. Almost all sections of the exam, except for English, allow candidates to choose Hindi as the examination language. As the Central government promotes Hindi as a primary language, candidates should not face any hindrance in attempting the RBI Grade B exam in Hindi. The key lies in identifying and utilizing high-quality Hindi resources for effective and targeted preparation.
  • Descriptive Section Misconceptions: The apprehension regarding the word limit in the descriptive section of the RBI Grade B exam is unfounded. Many candidates worry about typing a specific number of words within the allocated time, fearing that fewer words might result in lower marks. However, it’s crucial to understand that the word limit is merely a reference to guide candidates in structuring their answers. In reality, the emphasis is on the quality of content rather than the quantity of words. Successful candidates have demonstrated that thoughtful and concise responses can lead to excellent outcomes even if they fall short of the suggested word count. The key takeaway is that quality precedes quantity in the descriptive section in the RBI Grade B exam.
  • RBI Grade B as “Mini UPSC” Misconception: Success in the RBI Grade B exam hinges on a meticulously crafted plan encompassing all topics outlined in the syllabus. A crucial aspect of this strategy involves extensive practice, including regular mock tests. Contrary to the belief that multiple attempts are necessary, clearing the exam in the first attempt is achievable with thorough and comprehensive preparation. Aspirants should focus on understanding the intricacies of each subject, practicing consistently, and staying updated with relevant information. A well-rounded approach that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application significantly enhances the chances of success in the RBI Grade B examination.

The title regarding the upcoming SEBI Grade A 2024 might have intrigued you with several questions and you will find all answers here in the blog. The SEBI Grade A 2024 notification is expected to be out soon. Not much time is left. This exam is a highly anticipated exam among the aspirants preparing for regulatory bodies’ exams. The difficulty level of the exam is such that most of the candidates prefer coaching over doing just self-study. But, there are candidates who have cleared the exam solely based on self-study.

In this article we shall look into the feasibility of acing the SEBI Grade A exam without coaching. If possible, then how? If not, then why? Here we shall explore strategies for independent preparation if viable, or reasons hindering success without coaching. However, before that, an in-depth comprehension of the SEBI Grade A exam becomes essential. The article aims to dissect whether self-study alone can lead to success in this examination.

SEBI Grade A Exam Pattern

The exam of the SEBI Grade A consists of 2 papers in both phase 1 & phase 2, as follows:

PHASE 1:

PAPERSUBJECTSMARKSDURATIONCUT-OFF
Paper 1General Awareness- (Financial Awareness, QRE)10060 Min30%
Paper 2Commerce, Accountancy, Management, Finance, Costing, Company Act, Economics10040 Min40%
Aggregate Cut-off   40%

PHASE 2:

PAPERSUBJECTSMARKSDURATIONCUT-OFFWEIGHTAGE
Paper 1Descriptive English10060 Min30%1/3rd
Paper 2Commerce, Accountancy, Management, Finance, Costing, Company Act, Economics10040 Min40%2/3rd
Aggregate Cut-off   50%

Thus, the SEBI Grade A exam expects the following things from you at the least:

1.      Basic Financial Awareness

2.      A good knowledge of specific subjects: Commerce, Accountancy, Management etc.

3.      Knack of writing Descriptive English.

Is it possible to clear SEBI Grade A Without Coaching? :

If you possess decent skills in the above mentioned three aspects, it’s possible to pass the exam without any coaching assistance. The candidates with a Commerce, Economics background, who are largely familiar with the specific Subjects of Paper 2, may find it relatively easy to study and stand a good chance to clear the exam without coaching. The UPSC aspirants may also be able to study for SEBI Grade A without coaching.

For the candidates who are freshly graduated from a non-commerce background, studying for the specific subjects of Commerce, Accountancy etc. will be a lot tougher at the beginning. Thus, they are advised to take aid of some coaching at least at the beginning.

However, we also have to consider that this is a competitive exam. The relative edge that the commerce or UPSC background students get, can be wiped out by other candidates working extra hard with a specialized faculty at coaching. Thus, either you have to be very good at what this exam expects from you or you must take help from some coaching institute without any hesitation.

Also, let us understand what we mean when we say, self-study.

Self Study for SEBI Grade A

We come across many successful candidates boasting about them clearing the exam only on the basis of self-study. Remember that self-study is studying solely on the basis of reference books, making your own notes without referring to the class notes. Today, we can get access to the notes of all the major institutions and classes online. We have to understand that when any topper mentions about self-studying, he/she may have used those notes. Thus, it is not just self-study that they have relied on. They too must have used well prepared notes from different coaching platforms available online.

Learn more about self-study from our faculty member CP Joshi sir, here:

Now, let us see what are the pros & cons of self studying.

Pros

1.      Self-made notes are always priceless. As we write according to our understanding.

2.      We can devise a plan according to our own strengths & weaknesses.

3.      It is a lot more flexible as we can devise time to prepare according to our schedule.

4.      It may reduce unnecessary stress & anxiety that one has to go through when following the set timetable, as there’s no outside pressure that pushes us to work extra hard.

Cons

1.      Self-study could be time-consuming as you may not understand everything at the first go. Also, the notes that you’d make will take a lot more time to complete.

2.      There’s so much information available today for exam preparation. You need to understand ‘what not to use’. And you may not have the right guidance in that regard.

3.      Only a few people are able to maintain the consistency in self-studying, because there’s lack of motivation and absence of a mentor who could guide you from time to time.

4.      More time and energy is spent on making timetables, setting priorities than actually studying.

5.      For better results, we have to assess our progress constantly. In self-study you may not get the right kind of direction to assess your performance and plan accordingly.

In short, self-studying offers autonomy but necessitates self-discipline, effective resource management, and the ability to navigate the vast sea of study materials while maintaining consistent motivation.

So, What do you need? Coaching or Self-Study?

Till now you must have understood different aspects about coaching and self-study. If your foundation for SEBI Grade A is stronger, then you may study without coaching. This is possible only if you’re from a Commerce or Economics background, or a UPSC aspirant who has been preparing dedicatedly for 2-3 years. You can still rely on self-study if you don’t belong to any of these categories, but that might be time-consuming which may be disadvantageous to you.

But, coaching can address various concerns of yours that you may encounter during self-study. There will be a systematic way of teaching, planning and mentorship in the coaching, which may help you prepare faster for the exam. Coaching may let you know the things that you ‘should not do’ in your preparation, otherwise, you may get lost in the information overload that we have today.

Also, not to forget, coaching classes can be really helpful when you’re feeling stressed about covering lots of topics in a short time. They give you a plan to follow and tricks to manage all that stuff. Plus, having experienced teachers and friends around can ease your worries. They explain things when you’re stuck and cheer you up when it gets tough. With their help, you can handle the pressure better and cover everything you need for the exam without feeling so stressed out.

Read here about the RBI Grade B exam 2023 expected dates and also refer to the preparation strategy for RBI Grade B 2023.

The RBI Grade B 2023 notification is just around the corner. Known for its hefty perks, allowances, and incentives, the post of RBI Grade B carries out many other important responsibilities. The exam, which is conducted almost every year by the RBI, is a dream job for many candidates- right from freshly graduated students to working professionals across various disciplines.

We have come up with the expected dates for this year’s RBI Grade B Exam. In this article, we’ll see the preparation strategy keeping in mind those expected dates.

Expected Dates for RBI Grade B 2023

Our expert faculty member Mr. Susheel Ragade ensures that students get the exam dates well in advance every year. He has been consistent in providing the exam dates with almost 100% accuracy. Accordingly, this year’s RBI Grade B Phase 1 Exam is likely to be held on May 6, 2023. The Phase 2 exam consequently will be held on June 11, 2023. Please note, both dates are tentative.

So, there is about a 3 month period in our hands before we appear for the Phase 1 exam. Before that, let us see the RBI Grade B exam pattern for Phase 1.

Sr. No.Name of TestNo. of QuestionsMarksDuration
1.English303025
2.Quant303025
3.Reasoning606045
4.General Awareness808025

General Awareness

The General Awareness section is the game-changer section in Phase 1. It carries a weightage of 80 marks. However, the difficulty level of the GA section has been increasing for the last 2 years. Thus it is important to analyze the RBI Grade B previous year question papers.

The analysis will help us understand the types of questions asked in the exam. It is a blend of both static and conceptual questions. Also, the time to answer the questions is very less which makes it very difficult to score even 50% marks in this section.

To overcome the difficulties, it is important that you read quality current affairs content from reliable sources. The BeePedia of ixamBee covers all the topics relevant to the exam. Thus, you may not have to refer to any other source. The concise size of the magazine also makes it easy to revise all the content again and again. Revision is the key considering the types of questions asked in the exam, which expects accurate details from candidates.

Apart from BeePedia, the PIB videos in the RBI Grade B Course will add to your already strong foundation of GA preparation.

Only reading the content is not sufficient, and you’ll have to keep attempting the RBI Grade B Free Mock Tests to get used to the speed with which you’ll have to answer the questions and complete the paper.

Reasoning

After GA, Reasoning has the highest weightage of 60 marks in phase 1. However, despite getting good marks in other sections of Phase 1, and clearing the overall cutoff, many were not able to clear the sectional cut-off of the Reasoning section.

Hence, it is important to do the basics of all the topics mentioned in the syllabus. One must practice questions of Puzzles, Input-Output, and other major topics, but must not leave other topics unprepared. As questions could be asked from any topic which could come in handy in clearing the sectional cut-off of the section.

To understand the level of questions asked, refer to the RBI Grade B previous year question papers of the Reasoning section and also practice a lot of Mock Tests.

Quantitative Aptitude

Similar to the Reasoning section, many were not able to clear the sectional cut-off of the Quant section in Phase 1, despite clearing the overall cut-off. The quant section is manageable as the topics are fairly easy if one tries to understand the concepts.

For the last 2 years, RBI has been relying a lot on conceptual questions unlike the ones asked in the exams like SSC CGL. Thus, it is important to clear your conceptual understanding to be able to clear the sectional cut-off here.

The PYQs analysis and solving of RBI Grade B Free Mock Tests is again mandatory in order to get a hold over the exam pattern.

English

This is comparatively the easier section in the Phase 1 exam. As there is no real worry about clearing the sectional cut-off for a large number of people. However, if you have a good hold over English, you should capitalize on your advantage to score more in this section.

You may refer to the PYQs of the English Section of IBPS PO, RBI Asst, and other similar exams. This will help you understand your weak areas which you can work upon. Do not leave any topic in this section, as it will give you the necessary edge over other candidates in clearing the cut-off.

Previous Year Cut-offs of RBI Grade B

The Overall cutoffs of the last 2 years have been in the range of 60s. This clearly shows the higher difficulty level in the exam. The cut-off has also been more than 120 at one time. So, you should not really pay much attention to the RBI Grade B previous cut-offs, as they could change according to the difficulty level of the exam on the day.

Also, the Sectional cut-offs have been around 15% to 20% of the total marks of the paper. Thus, if the paper seems difficult, you may try and target at least 25% of the total marks in the exam. This will alleviate unnecessary panic in the last moments.

Conclusion

The RBI Grade B is one of the most prestigious exams in the banking sector exam. The period of about 3 months is sufficient enough to identify your mistakes and weaknesses and rectify them. ixamBee has largely maintained its date prediction record. Now it is your responsibility to make the most of these 3 months to increase your chances of clearing RBI Grade B Phase 1.

The recent layoffs in the private sector jobs owing to an imminent recession, pandemic uncertainties created panic among private-sector employees. Despite this, the private sector employees are keen on hiring more people in India in near future. The hiring viewpoint of almost 77% of employers is higher in India, according to the Mint.

Let us see why there is scope for better growth for the private sector in India.

Reasons for Private Sector Growth in Future:

Since the beginning of liberalization in 1991, India has seen tremendous growth in private sector investments in the country. This has also resulted in better employment opportunities for youth, especially in the service sector. Also, the recent government policies and initiatives are aimed at increasing the private sector presence in the country.

The liberal FDI policy of the government has paved the way for more investment of the private sector. This in turn has created several employment opportunities for skilled labour. Also, government has come up with a Production Linked Incentive Scheme to make India a production hub. The incentives provided in the PLI schemes encourages the private sector to aim at more growth. The recent 5G service rollout in the country has also given impetus to skilled employments in the country.

Moreover, now that the effect of pandemic has receded, the private sector will hire more people, especially the freshers. According to a recent NASSCOM report, more than 3,50,000 freshers will be hired in the tech industry itself. Furthermore, the possibility of Russia-Ukraine war ending in the near future, has also made market sentiments a bit better, considering that the global supply chain will be more efficient now.

Since we know that there’s a huge scope for private sector to grow in future, especially in India, let us now see why a private sector job is better equipped one.

The post SEBI Grade A 2023 Notification Postponed, What Next? appeared first on ixambee.

The highly anticipated SEBI Grade A 2023 notification was expected somewhere at the end of December, 2022. Now that the chances of the notification coming that early are bleak, students are in a state of confusion as to what to do next. We’ll see exactly how to go about the preparation in the time ahead. The notification is expected in the next few months as of now. So, instead of wasting time by doing nothing during this period, we should use it more productively.

Now, there are three types of students who are preparing for SEBI Grade A 2023, with different sets of problems. The first ones are those who studied their heart out considering that the notification would come in December. Then there are students who have not started studying yet but are either eager or tensed to study now. Then there are others who’d wait for the notification to come to panic themselves and then start studying. We’ll see how each of these can approach the exam now.

But before that, let’s understand the exam pattern first.

SEBI Grade A Exam Pattern

The exam of the SEBI Grade A consists of 2 papers in both phase 1 & phase 2, as follows:

PHASE 1:

PAPERSUBJECTSMARKSDURATIONCUT-OFF
Paper 1General Awareness- (Financial Awareness, QRE)10060 Min30%
Paper 2Commerce, Accountancy, Management, Finance, Costing, Company Act, Economics10040 Min40%
Aggregate Cut-off   40%

PHASE 2:

PAPERSUBJECTSMARKSDURATIONCUT-OFFWEIGHTAGE
Paper 1Descriptive English10060 Min30%1/3rd
Paper 2Commerce, Accountancy, Management, Finance, Costing, Company Act, Economics10040 Min40%2/3rd
Aggregate Cut-off   50%

Now, let’s see the approach towards preparation.

If Preparation is already done to an extent:

Many serious candidates thought that the notification would come at around the end of December this year. They studied accordingly and now do not know exactly what to do in this period.

It is relatively easy to clear the exam for such candidates. Since you’ve already gone through the syllabus, PYQs, you’re already very much prepared for the exam. You don’t have to feel that someone might do better than you in this period to try and get an edge over you. In fact, you just need to give attention to yourself. Remember this is a competitive exam and you’re already relatively ahead of most of the lot, so do the following things to maintain that advantage.

First, revisit the syllabus again and see if you’ve missed any of the topics. We tend to superficially prepare some of the topics which we find difficult. It is the right time to do such topics thoroughly. Also make sure that you’re attempting enough Mock Tests. That way you’ll find the areas that you still need to work on.

Meanwhile, you can also prepare for any other exam. Just make sure that you’re not completely distancing yourself from the SEBI Grade A pattern.

If yet to start the preparation:

For those of you who haven’t yet started preparing for the exam, this period is not less than a golden opportunity to redeem yourself. There are definitely going to be candidates who’d start studying now to end up clearing this year’s SEBI Grade A exam. This is because, lesser the time we have, more focused the approach becomes while studying. You need to do the following things to get in contention.

Start from the beginning. You still have plenty of time on your hands. Refer to the syllabus and mark your strengths and weaknesses. Then, solve the Previous Year Question Papers of at least last 4 years to know the exam and your preparation level.

After completing the syllabus at least once, you may start giving Mock Tests on a regular basis. Our expert faculties have already devised a Final Preparation Strategy to clear the exam. Visit the page and make your own strategy according to your needs.

Remember, many would feel complacent in this period. This is when you take the advantage to get ahead of others.

Waiting for the Notification

There would still be people who’ll start studying only after the Notification is out. I’ll wish them luck. However, they can still refer to our Final Preparation Strategy once the notification is out. This way they’d have a plan in hand to work on, without wasting any more time.

Finally, the candidates preparing for the SEBI Grade A 2023 exam, also have another Motivation to keep their preparation in full flow.

Extra Motivation

The SIDBI Grade A exam will be conducted somewhere in January/February, 2023. The syllabus of the exam is similar to that of SEBI Grade A 2023. Thus the SIDBI Grade A exam will act as a practice test of sorts before you appear for SEBI Grade A, 2023.

You can see the syllabus and preparation strategy of SIDBI Grade A, to know more about the exam. The SIDBI Grade A also offers a similar pay scale as that of SEBI Grade A, thus it could also be a wonderful career opportunity if you manage to clear the exam.

We’ve tried to cover each aspect by addressing different confusions regarding the upcoming SEBI Grade A, 2023 preparation. As a result, you should stop wasting time and start studying for the exam right now.

To help you prepare 50% faster for competitive exams, ixamBee provides free Mock Test Series all the Current Affairs in English and Current Affairs in Hindi in the BeePedia capsules for GA Preparation. You can also get the latest updates for Bank PO, Bank Clerk, SSC, RBI  NABARD and Other Government Jobs.

Whether to pick a government job or a private job is a glaring question among the fresh graduates. Some prefer the government job for its job security while others prefer the private one for more growth opportunities in the future. In this article, we’ll try and compare both government jobs and private jobs from different points of view. And at the end, we’ll see which one is better.

Government Job and Private Job: Meaning

Government job employees are simply the persons employed in different government agencies or ministries & their departments. For e.g. Police, Public Sector Bank employees and various other bureaucrats such as IAS, IPS etc.

Private Sector jobs are of endless types, but largely we’ll focus on the corporate sector jobs wherein the scope for growth is much higher.

Now let us compare the government and private jobs from various viewpoints.

Various Viewpoints of Government Job & Private Job

Job Security

It is said that the government jobs are difficult to get but it is even more difficult to remove a government employee from the service. That’s the level of job security we have in the government sector. This over protection is also a reason for inefficiency among some of the government officers, as per experts, however, that’s another topic of discussion.

In the private sector there is no concept of job security as such. You might be removed from the post citing lack of performance or financial constraints in the organisation. The recent layoffs in big MNCs due to recession is a good example that there’s a lack of job security in the private sector. However, if you are skilled enough in the particular domain, then you may not remain unemployed for long.

Salary & Other Perks

The salaries of lower rank government employees is higher than the average income of any private sector employee of the same class. The salary of a clerical level employee could be as par with a freshly graduate Engineer working in the private sector.

Despite having low salaries at the entry level, the private sector jobs will reward you, as you update yourself and try to become expert in the respective fields. A private sector employee of higher class may fetch salaries close to crores or even more than that once they are experienced enough in that field.

In terms of other perks, most of the government employees get facilities of residential accommodations and other number of allowances which may not be there in the private sector.

Career Growth & Other Opportunities

Even if you begin your career at the lower ranks in the government jobs, you may still be close to the top level, as the promotions are seniority based. Also, better work in one department is sometimes rewarded with another responsibility. However, undue political interference and influence may not always reward the deserving employee.

There are ample opportunities to grow in the private sector jobs if you update yourself in terms of skills from time to time. Better performance is also rewarded with promotions and bonuses. Also, all the promotions are merit based and not on seniority, hence this is a competitive space and everyone in the sector strives to update themselves.

Ease of Getting a Job

Largely all the government sector recruitment is carried on 3 phases of prelims, mains and the interview. Thus, you have to be at your best in all the 3 phases in order to get selected.

In case of private sector jobs, your educational qualification, experience and references matter more. There is no written exam as such but may have to clear multiple rounds of interview.

Hence, both the types of job are difficult to get into.

Leave & Holiday Policy

Most of the government sector employees get day-offs on various public holidays. Also, the leave policy may differ as per the organisation. The police and other law enforcement agencies hardly get any day-offs. They also have a strict leave policy. In any case, the government employees are paid even during their day-offs.

The private sector employee may not get paid for the leave that they take. Also, they mostly have to work even on the public holidays. The leave policy is also somewhat strict in all the private organisations, which makes it difficult to get a leave once in a while.

Flexibility

The government employees, barring police & other law enforcement departments, have fixed working hours. Also, the work-from-home option is generally absent in the government sector.

In case of private sector jobs, there could be fixed hours for some work profiles, but for others, you may have to work for longer hours to complete the assigned tasks on time to achieve the targets. Also, the work-from-home employees might need to be available at any scheduled time.

Therefore, both government and private sector jobs offer advantages in terms of flexibility.

Post Retirement Plans

Government sector employees get the benefit of pension and other facilities post-retirement, however, no such benefits are available to private sector employees.

So, which one is better of the two?

Government Job vs Private Job- Which one is better?

We have looked at both the government and the private job from different aspects. Both are good in some aspects and bad in others. Thus, we cannot decide which one is better in general. But we can definitely decide which one is better for you.

Why Government Job?

For those who want to work at the lower ranks, government jobs offer a better package in terms of salary and other benefits. It also helps you grow in the respective organisation based on the promotions on seniority. The likes of Railways or SSC CHSL & SSC CGL are only a few such exams that recruit candidates on a large scale. You may have a look at these exams.

Many people desire to have the status and recognition in society that the government jobs have. If you are the ones who aspire for societal recognition and respect, then government jobs are the ones for you.

Why Private Job?

Some of you may want to have immense growth in your career. You may want to gain specialization in the respective domain knowledge that you work in. For such candidates, government jobs may not provide as many opportunities as compared to the private sector. Hence, they can update their skills and focus on their development more to excel in the private sector.

Apart from this, if you are looking to have a flexible nature of work in terms of working-from-home opportunities, then private sector jobs could be better for you.

Conclusion

You might have got an idea about both the types of jobs. Now it’s up to you to choose which one you want to go with. But keep in mind that every job offers you a chance to develop and succeed. It is your responsibility to work diligently and make the task enjoyable. This will guarantee that you’ll like your work no matter what position you have.
