Age Limit Criteria
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has set an age limit for candidates applying for the Grade B Officer post. To be eligible for the RBI Grade B exam 2023, a candidate must be between the age of 21 years to 30 years. Furthermore, candidates belonging to the reserved categories will be eligible for age relaxation in the upper age limit.
Educational Qualification
Apart from the age limit criteria, a candidate must also possess the following educational qualifications to be eligible to apply for the RBI Grade B 2023 exam.

Post-Graduation Level Any such course from a recognized University / Institute that is taken after Graduation and is at least of 2 years duration / recognized by the Government as equivalent to professional or technical Post Graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above. |
Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DEPR | Essential: A Master’s Degree in Economics (or any other master’s degree where“Economics” is the principal constituent of the curriculum/syllabus, namely MA / MSc in Quantitative Economics, Mathematical Economics, Financial Economics, Business Economics, Agricultural Economics, Industrial Economics) OR A Master’s Degree in Finance (or any other master’s degree where “Finance” is the principal constituent of the curriculum/syllabus, namely MA/ MSc in Quantitative Finance, Mathematical Finance, Quantitative Techniques, International Finance, Business Finance, Banking, and Trade Finance, International and Trade Finance, Project and Infrastructure Finance, Agri Business Finance) OR Note- 1. A minimum 55 percent marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years from a recognized Indian or foreign University / Institute. 2. “Principal constituent” with respect to syllabus/curriculum means half or more of the total courses/electives / credits must be in Economics or Finance. 3. “Specialisation” in Economics / Finance means a third or more of the total courses/electives / credits in the second year must be in Economics /Finance. 4. Candidates having M.PhiI Degree and Doctorate Degree from a recognized Indian / Foreign University / Institute in economics will be eligible for relaxation in the upper age limit by 2 years and 4 years respectively. 5. Candidates having Master’s Degree with research / teaching experience at a recognized Indian / Foreign University / Institute in economics will be eligible for relaxation in upper age limit to the extent of number of years of such experience subject to a maximum of three years. For experience, probationary period will not be counted. Desirable: A Doctorate Degree in Economics, or research or teaching experience in economics, or publication in the field/area of Economics in standard journals. |
Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DSIM | Essential: A Master’s Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics/ Applied Statistics & Informatics with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years. OR, Master’s Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years and one year post graduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an Institute of repute. OR, Master’s degree course in Data Science/ Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning/ Big Data Analytics, with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/ years from a recognized University/ Institute, an institute of national importance, UGC/ AICTE approved programme; OR Four-year Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/ years in Data Science/ AI/ ML/ Big Data Analytics from a recognized University/ Institute, an institute of national importance, UGC/ AICTE approved programme; OR, Two years Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years from a recognized University/ Institute, an institute of national importance, UGC/ AICTE approved programme. Desirable: Candidates with a Doctorate in topics related to above subjects will be given preference. Research or teaching experience and publication in standard journals will be considered as an additional qualification. |
RBI Grade B Exam Pattern 2023

RBI Grade B Exam Pattern: Phase 2

Note:
- For both Paper I and III, there will be 30 questions and 50 marks for Objective questions (some questions carrying 2 marks each and some carrying 1 mark each).
- In case of Descriptive questions, 6 questions will be asked, of which candidates will have to attempt 4 questions (2 of 15 marks each (with difficulty level) and 2 of 10 marks each).

RBI Grade B Officer Interview
Candidates who successfully clear both Phase 1 & Phase 2 will be invited for an interview. The interview will be held for 75 marks. The combined marks obtained in the Mains and the Interview will determine a candidate’s final selection.
RBI Grade B 2023 Syllabus: Major Changes
The RBI Grade B notification has also announced the RBI Grade B syllabus for the RBI Grade B General, DEPR and DSIM streams. Furthermore, this year, RBI has introduced various changes in the RBI Grade B Phase 2 syllabus.
In the RBI Grade B Phase 2 Paper 1 i.e. Economic and Social Issues subject, the following topics like- Positive Discrimination in favour of priviliged, Social Movements, Indian Political System, Human Development, Social Sectors in India, Health and Education have been removed from the Social Structure in India section.
On the other hand, in the RBI Grade B Phase 2 Paper 3 i.e. General Finance & Management, topics like NaBFID, Recent Developments in Global Financial System and its impact on the Indian Financial System, Role of IT in Banking and Finance, Non-Banking System and Developments in Digital Payments have been added under the Financial System section. Furthermore, under the General Topics, the Basics of Accounting and Financial Statements section has been added.

RBI Grade B Officer Salary
An RBI Grade B Officer’s basic pay at the start of service will be ₹55,200. The initial gross monthly salary will be ₹1,16,684/- p.m. approximately.
