What is SIDBI?
SIDBI is an All India Financial Institution (AIFI), which was established under the special Act of the Parliament 1988, on April 01, 1990. It’s a primary financial Institution with an objective to promote, develop and finance the MSME (Micro Small and Medium Enterprise) sector.

Why is SIDBI Important?
- SIDBI plays an important role because the MSME sector is a priority sector for India and it plays a vital role in the economic and social development of the country.
- Furthermore, if we look at some statistics provided in the Economic Survey 2022, the MSME sector accounts for 45% of the total manufacturing output, 40% of exports and 30% of the national GDP.
- It is also one of the biggest employers providing maximum employment opportunities in the country.

SIDBI Grade A 2022-23: Exam Pattern
Let us first understand the SIDBI Grade A exam pattern.The SIDBI Grade A exam will be a single level written exam, consisting of objective as well as descriptive questions.
In the objective part, there will be a section on General Awareness (with special focus on Banking and Financial sector and Economic & Social Issues).
SIDBI Grade A General Awareness: 2016 Analysis
The next step is to look at the GA pattern in the SIDBI 2016 exam to understand the types of questions that were asked. However, in 2016, the GA pattern was slightly different as it was not specifically focused on the Banking/Financial sector/Economic & Social Issues.
In the SIDBI 2016 exam, the GA section consisted of 40 questions. Let’s look at the types of questions asked in SIDBI 2016 GA section-
GA Pattern in the Past: Other Similar Exams
Many exams of other Regulators and Development Institutions have taken place based on the similar pattern.
- 50-55% of questions were asked from financial and economic awareness.
- 70-75% is dynamic.
- Sports and important days are a recurring topic.
