SSC MTS vs SSC CHSL: Eligibility Criteria

SSC MTS and SSC CHSL are two different types of examinations and therefore the eligibility required to apply for the posts will also be different. In order to start the application process for any exam, it is extremely necessary to ensure that you are eligible and possess the minimum educational qualification required to apply for the post.

Paper III of SSC MTS is a Skill Test which is held as per candidate’s convenience.Tier III of SSC CHSL Exam comprises of certain skill tests which are required for selected government posts.

Being group ‘C’ posts, the jobs under CHSL are mostly clerical level jobs. Two main jobs under SSC CHSL are LDC (Lower-Divisional CLerk) & DEO (Data Entry Operator). Both the jobs offer comfortable working condition and if you stick to the job, you may be promoted to higher post as well.

SSC MTS vs SSC CHSL: Salary

SSC MTS: MTS is a combination of Group ‘C’ and group ‘D’ jobs and thus the candidates under SSC MTS are entitled to receive a salary under the pay band- 1 (rs 5200-20200) + Grade Pay of Rs 1800. Therefore, the salary of an MTS may range somewhere between Rs 18,000 – Rs 22,000 (approx.) per month. The final salary may also vary depending on the post and job location.

SSC CHSL: The two major posts under SSC CHSL are LDC and DEO as discussed above. The  in-hand salary of both the posts will be:

Lower Division Clerk – 18,777 – 22,411

Data Entry Operator –   25,165 – 31,045
