NIACL AO (2018-19) Mains Exam Pattern

NIACL AO examination contains overall three stages as follows:

1. Prelims
2. Mains
3. Interview

The NIACL AO prelims exam was held on 30th January 2019 for both Generalists & Specialists and the ones who qualify this stage will move on to the second stage to qualify the Mains exam followed by the third ‘interview’ stage. NIACL AO Mains (Generalists & Specialists) consists of objective type questions of 200 marks followed by a descriptive paper of 30 marks.

NIACL AO Mains Exam Pattern for Generalists

• The NIACL AO Mains exam for generalists will therefore be of 200 marks with a time duration of 2 hours.
• Except the test for English Language , the candidates will have the option to attempt all the other tests in both English and Hindi medium.

NIACL AO Mains Exam Pattern for Specialists

• The NIACL AO Mains exam for ‘specialists’  will also be of ‘200 marks’ with a time duration of ‘2 hours’.
• There is a difference of marking and the number of tests between the exam for generalists and specialists.
• Except for the test for English Language, the candidates will have the option to attempt all the other tests in both English and Hindi medium.

NIACL AO Mains Descriptive Paper

Like most of the important examinations these days, the NIACL AO Mains Examination also includes an ‘English Language descriptive paper’ which will test your ‘Letter and Essay Writing skills’.

The English Descriptive paper holds 30 marks and contains a composite time duration of 30 minutes. The test will also be in online mode and the candidates will be given the respective topics for letter and essay, out of which one will have to choose any one suitable topic each for both letter & essay writing.

• You need to qualify the objective paper and clear the cut-off for each section , in order to have your ‘descriptive paper’ assessed. If you are not able to qualify the objective test, your descriptive test will not be taken into consideration.

NIACL AO Prelims Overall Analysis

NIACL AO prelims exam was in the usual online mode with MCQs. There were three sections ‘English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability’ with sectional timing of 20 minutes each. The introduction of sectional timings has made the exam experience a bit tougher for the candidates , as they can not switch between any of the sections as per their convenience. NIACL AO Prelims Exam Detailed Analysis – SHIFT II

1.English Language

 As in Shift I, the level of English Language was close to ‘easy – moderate’. The RC that was asked was based on ‘Role of Banks in Economy’, which may have been a bit time-consuming as compared to a simpler topic.

• 1 tabular DI was asked (Based on number of buses and number of seats per bus and number of boys per bus was given)
• 1 caselet was asked (Based on strength of crew members in three different airlines)

Level: Moderate ; Good Attempts: 19-25

Topic-wise Distribution:

Analysing the second shift of NIACL AO Prelims , we can say that the overall level of the paper was easy – moderate, taking into consideration all types of questions that came, including most of the old pattern questions, which could have been familiar to all the aspirants. Thus, the total good attempts in SHIFT – II can be considered around – 70-75.
