Age

A candidate must be between 21 and 30 years of age as on January 1, 2022. However, the age criterion for RBI Grade B is relaxed for candidates who hold an MPhil/Ph.D. degree. The upper limit is then 32 and 34 years respectively.

Educational Qualification

Any such course from a recognised University / Institute that is taken after Class 12th  and is at least of 3 years’ duration / candidates possessing professional or technical qualifications which are recognised by the Government as equivalent to professional or technical graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above.

Post-Graduation level
Any such course from a recognised University / Institute that is taken after Graduation and is at least of 2 years’ duration / recognised by the Government as equivalent to professional or technical Post Graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above.
Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DEPREssential

A Master’s Degree in Economics (or any other master’s degree where “Economics” is the principal constituent* of the curriculum/syllabus, namely MA / MSc in Quantitative Economics, Mathematical Economics, Financial Economics, Business Economics, Agricultural Economics, Industrial Economics) OR,

A Master’s Degree in Finance (or any other master’s degree where “Finance” is the principal constituent* of the curriculum / syllabus, namely MA / MSc in Quantitative Finance, Mathematical Finance, Quantitative Techniques, International Finance, Business Finance, Banking and Trade Finance, International and Trade Finance, Project and Infrastructure Finance, Agri Business Finance) OR,

PGDM / MBA with specialization# in Economics / Finance.

Desirable
A Doctorate Degree in Economics, or research or teaching experience in economics, or publication in the field/area of Economics in standard journals.
Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DSIMEssential

Master’s Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics/ Applied Statistics & Informatics with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years; OR,

Master’s Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years and one year post graduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an Institute of repute; OR,

M. Stat. Degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters / years; OR,

Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years.

Desirable
(i) Candidates with a Doctorate in topics related to above subjects will be given preference.
(ii) Research or teaching experience and publication in standard journals will be considered as an additional qualification.

RBI Grade B Age Relaxation

Some relaxations are offered by the RBI in their eligibility criteria for Grade B officers. Please take a look at the table below to understand which relaxations, if any, apply to you.

Emergency Commissioned Officers/Short Service Commissioned Officers who have completed their initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service but whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues certificates that they would be released on selection within three months from the date of receipt of offer of appointment.   Please note that the age concession will not be admissible to those Ex-servicemen who have voluntarily taken release from service.5 years

RBI Grade B Nationality

In terms of RBI Grade B nationality criteria, the RBI has clearly outlined the criteria that candidates have to satisfy in order to be eligible to apply. For this, a candidate must be:

  • A Citizen of India
  • A subject of Nepal
  • A subject of Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India,
    OR
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Q: I am an OBC Candidate with a valid caste certificate but I do not have non-creamy layer certificate. Do I have to apply in Gen/UR?

A: Yes, you must apply in the General category. The notification clearly states that “Candidates belonging to OBC category but coming in the ‘Creamy Layer’ are not entitled to OBC reservation.”

Q: I am an EWS candidate but do not have the “Income and Assets Certificate.” What should I do?

A: You are required to apply in the General Category if you do not have the requisite certificate to certify your claim.

Q: I am in my final year of graduation. Am I eligible to apply?

A: No, the notification clearly states that eligible candidates must have completed their degrees before January 1, 2022 in order to apply.

Q: Do I need to upload my reservation-related certificates in my application?

A: No. You will be required to produce your documents for verification at the time of the Interview.

Q: How many times can I take the RBI Grade B exam?

A: For General category candidates, you can take the exam up to 6 times. For the reserved categories, there is no such limit.

Q: If I fill the form of RBI Grade B but do not appear for the exam, will it be counted as an attempt?

A: No, it will not.
