The RBI Grade B 2023 notification is just around the corner. Known for its hefty perks, allowances, and incentives, the post of RBI Grade B carries out many other important responsibilities. The exam, which is conducted almost every year by the RBI, is a dream job for many candidates- right from freshly graduated students to working professionals across various disciplines.

Expected Dates for RBI Grade B 2023

Accordingly, this year’s RBI Grade B Phase 1 Exam is likely to be held on May 6, 2023. The Phase 2 exam consequently will be held on June 11, 2023. Please note, both dates are tentative.

So, there is about a 3 month period in our hands before we appear for the Phase 1 exam. Before that, let us see the RBI Grade B exam pattern for Phase 1.

General Awareness

The General Awareness section is the game-changer section in Phase 1. It carries a weightage of 80 marks. However, the difficulty level of the GA section has been increasing for the last 2 years. Thus it is important to analyze the RBI Grade B previous year question papers.  

The analysis will help us understand the types of questions asked in the exam. It is a blend of both static and conceptual questions. Also, the time to answer the questions is very less which makes it very difficult to score even 50% marks in this section.

Reasoning

Quantitative Aptitude

Similar to the Reasoning section, many were not able to clear the sectional cut-off of the Quant section in Phase 1, despite clearing the overall cut-off. The quant section is manageable as the topics are fairly easy if one tries to understand the concepts.

For the last 2 years, RBI has been relying a lot on conceptual questions unlike the ones asked in the exams like SSC CGL. Thus, it is important to clear your conceptual understanding to be able to clear the sectional cut-off here.

The PYQs analysis and solving of RBI Grade B Free Mock Tests is again mandatory in order to get a hold over the exam pattern.

English

This is comparatively the easier section in the Phase 1 exam. As there is no real worry about clearing the sectional cut-off for a large number of people. However, if you have a good hold over English, you should capitalize on your advantage to score more in this section.

You may refer to the PYQs of the English Section of IBPS PO, RBI Asst, and other similar exams. This will help you understand your weak areas which you can work upon. Do not leave any topic in this section, as it will give you the necessary edge over other candidates in clearing the cut-off.

Previous Year Cut-offs of RBI Grade B

The Overall cutoffs of the last 2 years have been in the range of 60s. This clearly shows the higher difficulty level in the exam. The cut-off has also been more than 120 at one time. So, you should not really pay much attention to the RBI Grade B previous cut-offs, as they could change according to the difficulty level of the exam on the day.

Also, the Sectional cut-offs have been around 15% to 20% of the total marks of the paper. Thus, if the paper seems difficult, you may try and target at least 25% of the total marks in the exam. This will alleviate unnecessary panic in the last moments.
