The SBI Clerk Mains 2021 that were scheduled to be held on July 31, 2021, have been indefinitely postponed. However, that is no reason for us to procrastinate. In fact, we should use this time fruitfully so that when the exam date is actually announced, we do not have to rummage for study material.

Also, there are no Interviews for selection of Junior Associates or clerks. So, your performance on the Mains paper will determine if you make it through.

We strongly urge you to not let any delay or demotivation get in the way of your preparation. We have designed a strategy below that you can use as you prepare for the SBI Clerk Mains 2021 exam.

SBI Clerk Mains Exam Pattern

There are 4 sections in the Mains paper. 190 questions will be assessed for 200 marks. Although there is sectional time division as well, the total time allotted is 2 hours 40 minutes or 160 minutes. Take a look at all the details in the table below.

Name of testNo of QuestionsMarksDuration
General/ Financial Awareness505035 Minutes
General English404035 Minutes
Quantitative Aptitude505045 Minutes
Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude506045 Minutes
Total1902002 Hours 40 minutes

SBI Clerk Mains Study Plan

Since the notification has not been released yet, we can assume that we have at least 1 month in hand for our preparation. So divide the 4 weeks for the study of the 4 subjects. Dedicate 1 entire week to the study of each subject. If the exam notification is still not out by then, you can repeat the process all over again.

If you are preparing for any other exam as well like RBI Assistant, IBPS PO or NIACL AO, we hope these tips and guidelines will aid you in preparing for

SBI Clerk Mains Preparation Tips

  • Take a look at the entire SBI Clerk Mains syllabus if you have not already.
  • Familiarize yourself with the exam pattern that has already been shared with you above.
  • Find your strengths and weaknesses. Often, we hear from students that they find the Quantitative Aptitude and English Language sections of the paper most challenging. If this is the case for you as well, you should dedicate special time and attention towards it. Now that we have some extra time on our hands, make the most of it to eliminate your shortcomings.
  • Be mindful of the sectional time division. You must ensure you are able to complete each section within its allotted time frame.
  • If speed is an issue for you, you should use this time to work on solving questions quickly and correctly.
  • Speed (with accuracy) is of utmost importance in the Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning sections. So, you must dedicate some time each day to solving Quant and Reasoning questions.
  • If you are worried about your English Language preparation, you should begin with some light reading. For example, you should read newspaper or academic articles that will not only help you improve your English but also help you with your General Awareness preparation.
  • You can even read books or magazines at your leisure that will help you augment your language skills.
  • If you enjoy listening more than reading, you can watch the news in English or listen to audiobooks that will help you.
  • Finally, ixamBee’s BeePedia is your one-stop solution for your General Awareness preparation. We provide crisp current affairs capsules that you can study. BeePedia is also available in Hindi.

Evaluate Your Preparation

It is always a good idea to evaluate your preparation at every step as you go along. For this, two resources are particularly beneficial; mock tests and previous years’ question papers. From time to time, you should take the SBI Clerk Mains free mock tests that will help you evaluate your performance. Use this evaluation to identify the areas that need more of your time.

Similarly, you must review SBI Clerk Mains previous years’ papers that will help you understand the level of assessment and where you stand vis-à-vis it.

Choose ixamBee

Do not procrastinate: Preparing for the exam like SBI PO can be exhausting and hectic due to its competitive nature and difficulty level. Therefore, it is recommended to not delay your SBI PO preparation until the notification releases and start preparing for it as soon as possible.

Make your mind a clean slate: Start from scratch like you are reading everything for the first time. By reading this way you will find some new methods or important points that you may have not encountered earlier.

Practice makes a man perfect: Practicing more and more questions will boost your confidence and enhance your speed. You will get to know about the topics you are good at, and what topic can fetch you more marks.

Explore SBI PO books and study materials:  Do not just gather useless study materials, find what is useful for you and stick to it. Studying from various resources can sometimes become hectic and time-consuming. Making piles of useless study materials will do nothing but waste your precious time. The effective preparation is quintessential for cracking any exam and to clear the SBI PO exam easily you need to be precise with the study material you use. You can refer to our exam page to read about useful books for the SBI PO 2020 exam.

Attempt mock tests: You must take up a few mock tests to track your preparation status other than following your regular preparation routine. Attempt as many mock tests as you can. Try to solve them as long as you get comfortable with the exam pattern and speed that is required for the exam. Do not forget to analyze yourself after attempting the mock test.  ixamBee provides free mock tests for the SBI PO 2020 exam. Start reading a newspaper daily, it will serve two purposes (improves your vocabulary and update you with the current affairs).

Along with studying and learning new concepts, revise them on a daily basis and do not forget to make short notes to revise the concepts at the time of the exam.

SBI Clerk 2019

SBI or State Bank of India Recruitment is one of the most awaited notifications of all times. You will rarely come across anyone who will not be interested in getting a job at one of the largest banks in India. Irrespective of the post, SBI offers numerous opportunities to all its employees. This is the main reason that most of the job aspirants prefer working in this organization. It provides stability along with spontaneity by giving various chances of growth within the job. Being in any particular post, you will get enough chances to learn multiple skills working in a gamut of responsibilities and duties. SBI has rolled out its notification for 2019 SBI Clerk Recruitment and it has announced around 8653 vacancies. Every year lakhs of students apply for it which makes it even more difficult to compete for. SBI conducts an examination every year to recruit eligible candidates for the post of clerk, now called Junior Associate (Customer Support and Sales). One of the major reasons of candidates preferring SBI is the faster process of growth and promotion.

Lets look into the promotion policy and growth opportunities as SBI Clerk.

Promotion Process in SBI Clerk 2019

An SBI Clerk is generally supposed to be on a probation period of two years after which they can appear in the departmental (internal) examinations. The performance in the examination will decide the promotion to next level. Talking about the regular procedure, an SBI Junior Associate (Clerk) is eligible for promotion three times in his/her tenure:

  • 10 Years in service – Senior Assistant
  • 20 years in service – Special Assistant
  • 30 years in service – Senior Special Assistant

This simple procedure is applicable to those who are interested to get a promotion in their clerical cadre only and do not wish to change their designation. Each level of promotion in this case also includes some increments in their allowances. The in-cadre promotions in SBI take place purely on seniority basis.

SBI Clerk to SBI PO: Way To Get Promoted

Apart from the in-cadre promotions, SBI also provides opportunities to all its clerical employees to get through another promotion process with the help of which they can change their designation and become a PO. There are two major ways to get yourself promoted to Officer cadre.

  1. Fast Track Promotion Process: This process is applicable to those clerical cadre employees who have completed 3 years of their service in SBI. Not only this, they need to cross another level to be eligible for appearing in the promotional exams. An SBI Clerk needs to clear two main examinations to be eligible :
  • JAIIB – Junior Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking
  • CAIIB – Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking

Clearing only JAIIB would make an SBI Clerk eligible only after 4 years of service but if one clears both JAIIB and CAIIB in the same year, will make him/her eligible after 3 years of service straightaway. If they do not clear any of these two, they will have to take the normal promotion route.

2. Normal Promotion Process: If an SBI Clerk is not able to get through the fast track promotion process due to various reasons as mentioned above, he/she has to take the normal route of promotion which is going to be a bit slow. A Clerk in SBI will be eligible for promotion only after 6 years of service in the bank in normal scenario. After 6 years, a Clerk needs to take up the internal examination and if cleared, will be eligible for promotion and will be designated as Trainee Officer which will be equal to the Probationary Officer in rank.

To make your way into the largest banking organization in India, study well and practice SBI Clerk Free Mock Tests to make yourself perfect.

SBI Exams 2019

SBI is one of the largest banks in India and it has released its notifications for both SBI PO 2019 and SBI Clerk (Junior Associates) 2019 recently. SBI jobs provide dignity, respect, status and a stable future and due to this, a career in SBI is one of the main objectives of a job aspirant today. For anyone who is preparing to get into the banking sector, entering SBI seems like a dream. And the ‘dreams’ can only turn into reality. So, all those who are aiming for SBI PO or SBI Clerk this year, staying motivated will be a major task looking at the level of competition currently. There has been a boom in the banking sector since few years and since then, a bank job has been the main aim of any regular job aspirant. SBI PO & SBI Clerk both are equally important posts and getting into any one of them as a career will be enough for you to make a good start. There is a process that any aspirant needs to go through while planning to appear in any examination:

  • Notification
  • Application
  • Preparation
  • Examination
  • Selection

Probably, the first four points in the above-mentioned process are going to be common for everyone, but the last point will definitely vary. In an examination process anyway, this is a prefixed thing. The number of seats will always be far less than the actual number of people appearing in the exam. Considering the popularity of SBI PO & Clerk, you can very well imagine the level of competition. The question here is: What will make it different for you than for others?

What is that one thing which will make you stand out among the rest? How would you make that one seat yours? These are some basic questions that any candidate will face. Everyone hopes for success but what makes it better or worse for you is the recipe of success and the ingredients you use while you make that success your own.

SBI PO/Clerk 2019: The Main Ingredients for Success

When you plan to appear in any examination like SBI PO or SBI Clerk, the most important thing that counts is your consistency. Before any examination, it is important for you to first sketch a preparation plan that is practical enough and then follow that plan religiously. To follow something sincerely, you need a lot of consistency and stability which would be achieved only if you stay motivated throughout. Everybody out there is trying to cook a dish called ‘success’ but not every dish is going to come out delicious in the same way. Why? Because every now and then the recipe would have a wrong mix of ingredients. Why do you prefer a dish from a high quality Hotel to the one that is homemade? Because there is something special there! This ‘special’ is what you need in your recipe for success which will make you win eventually. Let’s look at some ‘main ingredients’ that will make your recipe special:

  • Practical Goals: If you want to cross that gap of examination and selection, it is necessary to make yourself a list of short-term goals that are practical enough. Making high-end goals will end up soon! Make ‘achievable goals’ which would not make you feel lost in midway.
  • The Right Mix: You will need just the right and balanced mix of factors that would lead you to success. Your preparation plan should be the right balance of thought, sweat, determination, dedication and planning.
  • Consistency is the Key: That one thing which will lead you through the path of success is nothing else but ‘consistency’. Efforts that are consistent will always make you win in all walks of life. If you tend to leave something midway, you can never reach your desired destination.
  • One Extra: Always try to go that extra mile. ‘The woods may seem lovely, dark and deep, but remember there are promises to keep and miles to go before you sleep’. These lines from ‘Robert Frost’ are perfect to remind yourself that there is no resting before you achieve your dream.
  • Self-Motivation: While you venture on the journey of achieving your dream job, you will face hurdles and lot many obstacles that will demotivate you and try to bring you down. But, that’s where your mental strength will come into play. You will have to keep yourself motivated. You don’t have to depend on external factors to keep you from demotivation, but do it yourself. Noone understands you better than your ownself.
  • Avoid Procrastination: While you go on with your preparation, you will face that temptation of procrastinating things. You may face that feeling of leaving everything for that just one day and start over from another day, but that’s what you have to fight the most. That feeling will lure you over and over again, but you will have to fight through it.  Just Start!
