The Himachal Pradesh Police department has invited online applications for the post of Constables. With a good number of vacancies being filled this time, it is a golden chance which should not be missed. Thus, you should first take note of the complete HP Police exam pattern which consists of various stages. Once the candidates are done with their online recruitment application, they will be intimated regarding the recruitment schedule and the venue. The recruitment process will be held by the District Recruitment Committee (DRC) at all the respective District Headquarters in Himachal Pradesh.
Physical Standard Test (PST)
The HP Police has specified certain physical standards based on which the candidates will be scrutinized. The scrutiny will be held at every District Headquarter. The dates for the scrutiny will be intimated separately for each District. All the candidates need to fulfill the minimum eligibility standards as specified in the official notification. The physical standards will be specified for both male and female separately. Check out the complete physical requirements specified below:

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
The candidates who will qualify in the Physical Standard Test will be called for the next stage of Physical Efficiency Test. The candidates will be assigned a few physical tasks and based on their performance, the decisions will be taken. The PET will be qualifying in nature and no marks will be assigned for the same. The outdoor physical efficiency test will be videographed in order to maintain transparency in the process. A dope test will be conducted at the beginning of the PET.

Written Examination
The candidates who will be able to qualify both the PST & PET stages will be subsequently called to appear in a written test. The written exam will be conducted for all the candidates in their respective districts. There will be five sections in the written exam namely: English Language, Hindi Language, General Awareness, Mathematics & Science and Reasoning Aptitude. Each section will consist of 16 questions and the minimum qualifying marks will be 50% of the total marks for all categories except SC/ST. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks will be 40%.
- The written exam will carry 80 marks
- The test will contain objective type questions
- The time allotted will be 60 minutes

Scrutiny of Documents & Award of Marks
After the written test, the candidates will have to appear for another stage which will be divided into two parts.
- Firstly, all the documents pertaining to the eligibility of a candidate for the post of Constable will be checked and verified by the department. This includes the caste certificates also, which will prove the candidates’ eligibility for relaxation.
- Secondly, the candidates will be awarded marks on the basis of special certificates obtained by them. The marks will be awarded out of a total of 15 marks.
Final Merit
After all the steps of assessment will be done, the final merit will be prepared out of a total of 100 marks where the height, written test performance, & the marks obtained in the evaluation of certificates.
Medical Examination
The selected candidates will have to go through a medical examination. The HP Police department will make sure that all the candidates that are selected for the post of Constables are medically fit and efficient. The candidates who are found to me medically unfit, will be disqualified. In place of these disqualified candidates, the candidates in the waiting list will be considered for selection.
Note: The female candidates in case found pregnant, will be declared temporarily unfit and shall be eligible to reappear for the medical examination after the post-partum period of 42 days after delivery.
Verification of Character & Antecedents
Once all the stages of HP Police Constable will be duly completed, the verification of character and the candidates’ antecedents will be done by the District Police. The process of issuing the appointment letters will not be delayed due to the verification process.
Marking Scheme
- Under the Physical Standards Test (PST), the candidates will be given upto a maximum of 5 marks for their height.
- The objective type written test will contain a total of 80 questions. Each of the questions will carry 1 mark each.
Exam Language
HP Police Constable exam 2024 will be conducted in English and Hindi (except test of English Language which will be provided only in English).
