The Indian Coast Guard, an Armed Force of the Union under the Ministry of Defence, released its official recruitment notification, where it announced vacancies for the post of Assistant Commandant (Group 'A' Gazetted Officers). A total of 46 ICG Assistant Commandant posts in General Duty (GD), Technical (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics) and Law.
All eligible candidates who would like to apply for this job can do so between September 01 to 15, 2023. Furthermore, the ICG has also released the tentative exam schedule for the 02/2024 batch in the official notification. According to that, the ICG Asst. Commandant Stage 1 exam is scheduled to be held in December 2023, Stage 2 in January 2024, Stage 3 in January-April 2024, Stage 4 in January-May 2024 and finally, Stage 5 in mid-June 2024. Documents to be Uploaded
Candidates will be required to upload documents in two phases, i.e., at the time of application and if and when the candidate is shortlisted for the Stage 2 exam. The list of documents to be submitted in the ICG Assistant Commandant online application are:
- Passport size recent colour photograph
- Candidate’s scanned signature image
- Scanned Clear Left and Right-Hand thumb impression image
- Date of Birth Certificate (Candidate to upload 10th class mark sheet or birth certificate
- Identity proof (Adhaar Card or Voter ID or Passport or PAN Card or Driving License)
- Service Certificate, if a candidate is serving ICG Personnel, including civilian
- Domicile Certificate (if applicable)

- 10th Matriculation Marksheet and Certificate
- 12thMarksheet & Certificate\Diploma

- Candidates appeared in final semester/year degree examination awaiting result to upload certificate cum undertaking as per format given on website.
- Commercial Pilot License (if applicable)

- NOC by the candidates serving in Government organisations. NOC should be dated on or after the date of application.

Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Admit Card
It is important to note that admit cards for the ICG examination will be issued only to candidates who have successfully paid the examination fee or who are eligible to receive a waiver of the examination fee. For Stages 1, 2 and 3, the ICG website will announce the date when e-admission cards are available for download. Candidates are requested to regularly visit the website at https://joinindiancoastguard.gov.in/ and log in to download the E-Admit Cards.
Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Exam Centres
- The ICG Asst. Commandant Stage 1 exam will be held for the eligible applicants, which will be conducted at various centres all over India.
- The ICG Asst. Commandant Stage 2 exam will be held for eligible candidates who clear the Stage 1 exam at centres in Noida, Mumbai/Goa, Chennai and Kolkata only.
- SC/ST candidates who are not in Government service at present will be reimbursed ordinary 2nd class fare by train/bus/steamer charges on showing of original tickets if the home station is beyond 30 km for the ICG Stage 1 exam.
- Candidates who are appearing for the first time for the Stage 2 (PFB) exam will be reimbursed their two-way to and from travelling fares by AC III/Chair Car or regular bus.
- Similarly, The SC/ST candidates will be reimbursed for 2nd class railway/bus fare for the Stage 2 and Stage 3 exams irrespective of the number of appearances.
