MP High Court Recruitment Exam Pattern
The Madhya Pradesh High Court recently announced a recruitment for various posts of Stenographer Grade 2, Stenographer Grade 3, Stenographer Grade 3 (Court Manager Staff), Assistant Grade 3 & Assistant Grade 3 (English Knowing).
The MP High Court selection process for all these posts will be conducted in two stages:
- Prelims
- Mains
There will be an online examination in both these stages which will contain objective type questions from various topics. There will be composite timings for the same and the candidates will have to score minimum qualifying marks. Let us look into the exam pattern in detail.
Phase 1- Preliminary Exam
The first stage of the MP High Court recruitment process for all the posts will consist of an online objective exam which will contain 5 sections. There will be a total of 100 questions carrying 100 marks. There will not be any sectional timings and no negative marking will be there in the first stage. The time allotted for the Preliminary exam will be 2 hours.
- Phase 1 or the Preliminary exam will only be a ‘screening’ test and the marks obtained in this test will not be considered in the final selection.
- Minimum qualifying marks for Unreserved & OBC category will be 45 % and for SC/ST will be 40 %.

Phase 2 - Mains
The candidates who will be able to score qualifying marks in the Prelims stage will be called for the second stage of the Mains examination. The ratio of the number of candidates to the number of vacancies, in which the candidates will be called for Mains will be 1:3.
- The Mains examination for all the posts will consist of a Dictation and Typing Test.
- The minimum qualifying marks for all categories will be 50%.
Please note:
- The candidates who will be called for the Mains examination are supposed to submit specific documents with respect to their eligibility and application. If the documents are found to be incorrect, the candidature of all such candidates will be cancelled.
- Hindi typing will be done in Remington Gail only.
Stenographer Grade -2, Grade- 3 & Grade-3 (For Court Manager Staff) Exam Pattern
The MP High Court Stenographer Phase 2 / Mains exam pattern for the posts of Stenographer Grade-2, Grade-3 & Grade-3 (Court Manager Staff) will consist of Hindi Stenography Dictation of 400 words & a Transcription/Typing Test and a time of 35 mins will be allotted.

The candidates will be supposed to type on the keyboard provided to them. No one will be allowed to bring their personal keyboards.
Assistant Grade-3 Exam Pattern
The Phase 2 / Mains examination for the post of Assistant Grade-3 will consist of Hindi Typing of 350 words & Direct Dictation Typing of approximately 400 words. A time of 20 mins will be allotted.
The candidates will be supposed to type on the keyboard provided to them.

Assistant Grade-3 (English Knowing) Exam Pattern
The Phase 2 / Mains examination for the post of Assistant Grade-3 (English Knowing) will consist of English Stenography Dictation of approximately 400 words & a Transcription/ Typing test. The allotted time will be 35 mins.

- Marks will be deducted if any candidate attempts to write in LongHand during direct dictation.
- For Stenographer Grade 2, Stenographer Grade 3, Stenographer Grade 3 (Court Manager Staff), Assistant Grade 3 (English Knowing) there will be a 0.50 deduction in marks for mistakes (wrong words/spelling mistakes/punctuation mistakes). If more than 120 mistakes are found, the answer booklet will be rejected and zero (00) marks will be given.
- For Assistant Grade 3 there will be a 0.50 deduction in marks for mistakes (wrong words/spelling mistakes/punctuation mistakes). During Hindi typing, if there are more than 36 mistakes and during direct dictation, if there are more than 84 mistakes, the answer booklet will be rejected and zero (00) marks will be given.
Final Selection
A waiting list will be created once the second stage of the Mains examination will be complete.
- The District allotment of the candidates will be done through counselling based on their categories and merit and keeping in mind the category wise vacant posts in the district.
- The District Judge of the concerned district will be the appointing officer of the abovementioned posts.
Marking Scheme
The first stage of the MP High Court Stenographer recruitment is the Preliminary exam which is held online. Candidates are supposed to choose the most suitable answer from among the answer options available. The test is objective type and all the questions will carry 1 mark each.

- There will be no negative marking in the Preliminary exam.
- 0.50 marks will be deducted in the Mains exam in case of the following errors:
- wrong words
- spelling mistakes
- punctuation mistakes
Exam Language
The MP High Court Stenographer (Grade 2 & 3) & Assistant (Grade 3) recruitment will have two stages of Preliminary & Mains exam. The Prelims stage will have questions from various sections/subjects which will be objective in nature. All the questions will be available in both English & Hindi except in the tests of English knowledge & General Hindi.
