    It is essential to look at the RRB Group D exam pattern before preparing for the exam. The RRB Group D exam 2024 is going to be held in three phases. A written examination will be held followed by a physical efficiency test, Document Verification and Medical examination.

    The RRB Group D exam pattern consists of three phases and those are:

    • Written examination (CBT)
    • Physical efficiency test.
    • Document verification and Medical examination.

    RRB Group D Written Examination (CBT)

    Before start preparing for the examination, you are advised to look at the examination pattern in order to have a clear understanding of the Railways Recruitment RRC-01/Group D examination pattern. A Computer Based Test (CBT) consists of the following sections i.e. General Awareness and Current Affairs, Mathematics, General Science and General Intelligence and Reasoning. Each question carries 1 mark. The total number of questions will be 100 to be solved in 90 minutes. To know complete details about the RRB Group D exam pattern, please refer to the table below:

    RRB Group D Physical Efficiency Test

    After qualifying for the written examination (CBT), you will be called out for the Physical efficiency test. The list for PET will be made on the basis of merit. The number of candidates that will be called for PET will be three times the total number of vacancies community-wise, however, the RRB has the right to increase or decrease the ratio. There are certain tasks that will be assigned to both males and females separately which they have finished on their respective time.

    Please Note: There is no PET for PwBD candidates.

    • Should be able to lift and carry 35 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down.
    • Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.
    • Should be able to lift and carry 20 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down.
    • Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.

    Marking scheme

    With an increasing number of competitions, RRB has introduced a marking scheme in which there shall be negative marking in the exam. A total of 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted for every wrong answer marked. It should also be noted that three is no negative marking for unattempted questions.

    Exam Language

    The exam is bilingual in nature. It means that the Railways Recruitment Group D exam can be attempted in either of the languages i.e. Hindi or English.

    Normalization of Marks

    Shortlisting in the online written exam will be based on the normalized marks obtained by the candidates as CBT will be conducted in multiple sessions for the same syllabus. The normalization scheme to be adopted for shortlisting the candidates from CBT to PET (as applicable) and for document verification is detailed below.

    Calculation of Normalized Marks for Multi-Session Papers

    As the RRB Group D exam may have to be conducted in multiple sessions (due to a large number of applicants), a suitable normalization is applied to take into account any variation in the difficulty levels of the question papers across different sessions. A standard formula for calculating the normalized marks for the multi-session papers will be followed, as given below
