    SSC Stenographer Skill Test

    • Mastering stenography skills is vital for the Stenographer profile, where accurate transcription of dictation at a specified pace is paramount. The Skill Test will be conducted for both Stenographer Grade 'C' and Grade 'D' posts, and the Commission will establish specific qualifying standards for different categories of candidates. For the Stenographer Grade 'C' post, candidates will be given a 10-minute dictation in either English or Hindi at a speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m). For the Stenographer Grade 'D' post, the dictation will also be 10 minutes long, but the speed will be 80 w.p.m in either English or Hindi.
    • During the Skill Test, candidates will transcribe the dictated passage on a computer, and the Commission will specify the allotted time for transcription. It is essential to note that candidates choosing the Stenography Test in Hindi must be proficient in English Stenography, and vice versa, as they may be required to work as English/Hindi stenographers based on the functional requirements of the User Office, irrespective of the medium of the Skill Test they took during the examination.
    • The Skill Test will be held at the Commission's Regional/Sub-Regional Offices or other designated centers, as determined by the Commission. Candidates who are called for the Skill Test will receive comprehensive instructions from the concerned Regional/Sub-Regional Offices of the Commission regarding the test. It is crucial for selected candidates to adhere to these instructions to ensure a smooth and successful Skill Test evaluation.
    • Please keep in mind that the Skill Test is of a qualifying nature, and candidates' performance in this test will be pivotal in determining their eligibility for the Stenographer Grade 'C' and Grade 'D' positions.
