The Sub-Mission on Agroforestry (SMAF) was initially launched in 2016-17 under the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA). In 2021-22, SMAF was restructured and integrated into the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) with a focus on Quality Planting Material. This restructuring aims to enhance the production and availability of certified quality planting materials for agroforestry.
