Question

Read the below passage and attempt the following questions (Q no 13 to 16). In a country as vast and diverse as India, a significant portion of the workforce operates in the unorganized sector, often without access to formal employment benefits or social security. Recognizing the need to address the concerns of these workers, the Indian government launched the e-Shram portal, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at creating a comprehensive database of unorganized sector laborers. The e-Shram portal was officially announced as part of the government's efforts to streamline and organize information about workers in the unorganized sector. This sector encompasses a wide range of occupations, including construction workers, street vendors, agricultural laborers, and more, who often face challenges such as lack of job security, limited access to healthcare, and insufficient social protection. The registration process for the e-Shram portal is designed to be user-friendly, ensuring that even those with limited technological literacy can easily participate. Workers are required to provide basic details such as name, age, address, educational qualifications, and occupation. The portal also allows for the inclusion of family details, ensuring a more comprehensive understanding of each worker's background. While the e-Shram portal holds great promise, there are certain challenges and concerns that need to be addressed for its successful implementation. Privacy and data security are paramount, and safeguards must be in place to protect the sensitive information collected. Additionally, efforts should be made to raise awareness among unorganized sector workers about the benefits of registration and the services available to them through the portal.
