Question
Who regulates AIFs in
India?Solution
AIFs are Alternate Investment Funds. These are privately pooled investment vehicles collecting funds from sophisticated investors (Indian or foreign) and invest in accordance with the defined investment policy. Recently, SEBI approved the introduction of Special Situation Funds (SSFs) as a sub-category under Category-1 Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs). These can invest in only bad debt assets.
