    Solution

    Agar and gelatin both are solidifying agent but agar is much better then gelatin because it does not melt at room temperature as well as is not easily decomposed by microbes. Agar melts at 85 degree Celsius whereas gelatin melts at 35-40 degree Celsius. Agar is not eaten by microbes growing on it but gelatin is eaten by microbes growing on it.
