    The Union Ministry of Law and Justice announced Rajiv Kumar, the current Election Commissioner, will take over as the next Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) from May 15. Rajiv Kumar will take charge from CEC Sushil Chandra, who is due to retire. Article 324 of the Constitution provides that the power of superintendence, direction and control of elections to parliament, state legislatures, the office of president of India and the office of vice-president of India shall be vested in the Election Commission. There are Two Election Commissioners and A Chief Election commissioner.
