The United Arab Emirates’ President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan died aged 73 after battling illness for several years. The President of the oil-rich Gulf state is likely to be replaced by his half-brother, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed. Sheikh Khalifa took over as the UAE’s second President in November 2004. As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, the Government of India has announced a day’s mourning throughout the country.The National Flag will be flown at half-mast and there will be no official entertainment on the day.
