In a move to discourage paddy and encourage farmers for crop diversification, the Chhattisgarh government has reduced the acreage of summer paddy to zero for the coming rabi season 2022-23. The state has, however, set a target to take rabi crops in 1.92 million hectares of land. The state wants to propel the farmers for crop diversification and go for wheat, gram, and peas in this season and thus the decision of the state is seen as an attempt to implement the same.
