The Ministry of AYUSH had planned the 'Ocean Ring of Yoga' program in coordination with the Ministry of Defense and other ministries. June 21 was recognized as the International Yoga Day by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in December 2014 at the initiative of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. It was organized for the first time in the year 2015.
