India has joined the Champions Group of the Global Crisis Response Group (GCRG). Sanjay Verma, Secretary (West) of the Ministry of External Affairs, has been designated as India's Sherpa to the GCRG process. The GCRG was established by the UNSG in March 2022 to address urgent global issues related to food security, energy, and finance. The Champions Group consists of the Heads of State/Government of Bangladesh, Barbados, Denmark, Germany, Indonesia, and Senegal. India's participation demonstrates its increasing global leadership and commitment to addressing global challenges. It will further support the United Nations' efforts in finding solutions to developmental issues, especially in developing countries.
