    Article 352 of the Indian Constitution allows the President to declare an emergency if there is a grave threat to the security of India or any part of its territory due to war, external aggression, or armed rebellion. This is known as a 'National Emergency' and can be applied  to the entire country or a part of it, even before an actual occurrence if an imminent threat is perceived.
