Calcutta and Agra were connected by telegraph. • Lord Ripon is known for introducing the Local Self Government in 1882. - His scheme of local self-government developed the Municipal institutions which had been growing up in the country ever since India was occupied by the British Crown. • The Delhi Durbar was held twice more in 1903 and 1911 to proclaim first King Edward VII and then King George V as Emperor of India. However, it was the 1903 Delhi Durbar presided over by Viceroy of India Lord Curzon.
