    A statement is given followed by two assumptions

    numbered I and II. You have to assume everything in the statement to be true and decide which of the given assumptions is/are implicit in the statement.  Statement:  Essay writing is an art. It requires an understanding of the subject as well as a command over the language to be able to write a good essay.  Assumptions: I. Essays cannot be written without complete mastery over the subject.  II. Anyone with a good command over the language can write a good essay.

    Solution

    (I) Essays cannot be written without complete mastery over the subject. The statement mentions that understanding of the subject is required, but it does not say that complete mastery is necessary. One can write a good essay with a reasonable understanding of the subject, even without complete mastery. This assumption is not implicit. (II) Anyone with a good command over the language can write a good essay. The statement clearly mentions that both an understanding of the subject and a command over the language are required. This means that just having a good command over the language is not enough to write a good essay. This assumption is also not implicit.
