On July 23, 2024, Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) successfully launched the GSL Yard 1258, named ‘Triput’. This launch marks a significant milestone as the first P1135.6 Class Frigate constructed indigenously. Witnessed by Rita Sreedharan, the First Lady of Goa, and PS Sreedharan Pillai, the Governor of Goa, the ceremony highlighted the frigate’s advanced capabilities. Triput, spanning 124 meters in length and 15.5 meters in width, is powered by four gas turbines enabling speeds up to 28 knots. Its construction utilizes indigenous low-carbon micro-alloy grade steel, and it is equipped with cutting-edge weapons and sensors, marking a key advancement in India's maritime defense capabilities.
