National Broadcasting Day is celebrated every year on July 23 in India to mark the founding of the Indian Broadcasting Company (IBC). Established in 1927 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, IBC was India's first radio company. This day also marks the 97th anniversary of All India Radio (AIR), originally known as IBC. Radio broadcasting began in India in 1922, and the first broadcast by the Radio Club of Bombay was in June 1923.
