Qutub-ud-din Aibak founded the Sultanate of Delhi in 1206 after the death of his mentor, Mohammed Ghori. He was originally a slave who rose to prominence and established a dynasty that marked the beginning of Muslim rule in northern India, laying the foundation for several centuries of Sultanate governance.
