The new NEP is built on four pillars: accessibility, equity, quality, and accountability. The old 10+2 structure will be replaced by a 5+3+3+4 framework that includes 12 years of education and 3 years of Anganwadi/pre-school. Though we have made significant progress in literacy and other education indicators, there is still much room for improvement at the secondary, higher secondary, and higher education levels.
