    Heeralal Samariya was recently sworn in as the Chief of the Central Information Commission (CIC) by the President of India. The Central Information Commission (CIC) has been established under the Right to Information Act, 2005. Composition: It comprises a Chief Information Commissioner and a maximum of ten Information Commissioners. Appointments are made by the President of India based on the recommendation of a committee chaired by the Prime Minister. The committee also includes the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and a Union Cabinet Minister nominated by the Prime Minister.
