The following provisions of the Constitution reveal the secular character of the Indian state- • Preamble 42nd Amendment Act, 1976 added three new words i.e. socialist, secular, and integrity to the Preamble. • Fundamental rights Right to equality (Article 14, 15, and 16) Right to freedom of religion (Article 25, 26, 27, and 28) Cultural and Educational Rights (Article 29 and 30) relates to secular spirit. • DPSPS- Article 44 is related to the Uniform Civil code. • Fundamental duties promote harmony and the spirit of common brotherhood amongst all the people of India transcending religious, linguistic, and regional diversities, to renounce practices derogatory to the dignity of women.
