The drone is being designed for use by all 3 Indian Armed Forces branches, mainly for surveillance, tracking, and reconnaissance operations. It can travel at approximately 280 km/h and carry different payloads. DRDO has successfully flown its Rustom 2 at its Aeronautical Test Range at Challakere in Chitradurga district of Karnataka. On the lines of the American Predator drones, India has produced a medium-altitude long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle, Rustom 2 or TAPAS-BH-201. Rustom 2 is capable of carrying out continuous surveillance and can carry weapons along with monitoring equipment.
