Question

The ratio of the present ages of ‘A’ and ‘B’ is 7:6, respectively. Two years hence from now, the age of ‘B’ will be 20 years. If the average of present ages of ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ is 21 years, then find the present age of ‘C’.

A 24 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 23 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 27 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 28 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the present ages of ‘A’ and ‘B’ be 7x years and 6x years, respectively Therefore, 6x + 2 = 20 Or, 6x = 18 Or, x = 3 Sum of present ages of ‘A’ and ‘B’ = 7x + 6x = 39 years Sum of present ages of ‘A’, 'B’ and ‘C’ = 21 × 3 = 63 years Therefore, present age of ‘C’ = 63 – 39 = 24 years
