Question
Present ages of 'P' and 'Q' are in ratio 5:6,
respectively. If ten years hence from now, age of 'P' will be 25% less than that of 'Q', then find the ratio of present ages of 'P' and 'R' given that 'R' is 7 years older than 'P'.Solution
ATQ, Let the present ages of 'P' and 'Q' be '5x' years and '6x' years, respectively. So, (5x + 10) = (6x + 10) X 0.75 Or, 5x + 10 = 4.5x + 7.5 Or, 0.5x = 2.5 So, x = 5 So, present age of 'P' = 5x = 5 X 5 = 25 years And present age of 'R' = 25 + 7 = 32 years So, required ratio = 25:32 = 25:32
