    children is 10 years. If the present age of their mother and father is added, the average age of the whole family becomes 17 years. If the age of the father is 3 years more than that of the mother, find the present age of the mother.

    ATQ, Let the present age of the mother be x years. So, the present age of the father = x+3 years. Sum of the present age of the five children = 10×5=50 years. Sum of the present age of the whole family = 50+x+(x+3)=17×7. 2x+3=119−50 2x=66 x=33 Therefore, the present age of the mother = 33 years.
