    (x – 3) is a factor of (x2 + 4qx – 2q) so, x – 3 = 0 => x = 3 Put, x = 3 in x2 + 4qx – 2q and equate to zero. => x2 + 4qx – 2q = 0 => (3)2 + 4 × q × 3 – 2q = 0 => 9 + 12q – 2q = 0 => 12q – 2q = -9 => q = -9/10
