Question

Each of the questions below consists of a question and three statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in both the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read all the statements and give answer –

There are two cylindrical rollers - bigger and smaller. How many rotations will the bigger roller take to flatten a stretch of land (X)?

Statement I: The respective ratio of the radii of the bigger and the smaller roller is 7 : 3. Both the rollers are of the same length.

Statement II: The smaller takes 126 rotations to flatten the stretch of land (X).

A Either I or II Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B Neither I nor II Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C Only II Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D Only I Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E Both are required Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    From both the statements,  Radius of the larger roller = 7x units Radius of the smaller roller = 3x units Area flattened by smaller roller in 63 rotations = 2 × pi × 3x × 1 × 63 Therefore, 3x × 126 × pi × r × 1 = 2 × pi × 7x × 1 × n n = 27
