Question

    Read the following information carefully and answer the given questions: The following pie-chart shows the percentage distribution of number of children in five (A, B, C, D and E) different orphanages. Note:  Total number of children in all the orphanages is 500.

    If number of children in orphanage F is 25% less than that in orphanage C, then find the ratio between the number of children in orphanage A and F.

    A 3:1 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 2:3 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 1:1 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 5:2 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Number of children in orphanage A = 15% of 500 = 75 Number of children in orphanage C = 20% of 500 = 100 Number of children in orphanage D = 10% of 500 = 50 According to the question, => 75 + 4x + 100 + 50 + x = 500 => 5x = 500 – 225 => x = 55 Number of children in orphanage E = x = 55 Number of children in orphanage B = 4x = 4 × 55 = 220 Number of children in orphanage F = 75% of 100 = 75 Required ratio = 75:75 = 1:1
