The ratio of the breadth to the length of a rectangular
field is 2:3. The total cost of cutting the grass of the field at the rate of Rs 6 per m2 is Rs. 19044. Find the cost of fencing the boundary of the field at the rate of Rs. 15 per m.Solution
Let the length and breadth of the field is 3x and 2x respectively. Area of the field = 19044/6 = 3174 m2 So, (3x × 2x) = 3174 ⇒ x2 = 529 ⇒ x = 23 Therefore, the length of the field = 3x = 69 m And the breadth of the field = 2x = 46 m Required cost = 2 × (69 + 46) × 15 = Rs. 3450
