Question
Perimeter of a square and circumference of a circle are
in the ratio 6:11, respectively. If area of the square is 36 cm2, then find the radius of the circle. (Take Ο = 22/7)Solution
Let the perimeter of the square and circumference of the circle be β6xβ cm and β11xβ cm, respectively. Area of square = a2 (Where βaβ is the side of the square) ATQ; 36 = a2 Or, a = 6 cm So, perimeter of the square = 6 Γ 4 = 24 cm So, circumference of circle = 24 Γ (11x/6x) = 44 cm Circumference of circle = 2Οr (Where βrβ is the radius) So, 44 = 2 Γ (22/7) Γ r Or, r = 7 cm Therefore, radius of the circle is 7 cm.
