Question

The area of a square is 121 cm2 which is 89

cm2 less than that of a rectangle. Find the perimeter of the rectangle if the length of the rectangle is 10 cm more than the length of each side of the square.
A 66 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 62 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 56 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 63 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Area of the square = 121 cm2 Length of each side of the square = √121 = 11 cm Area of the rectangle = 121 + 89 = 210 cm2 Length of the rectangle = 10 + 11 = 21 cm So, area of rectangle = length × breadth = 21 × breadth = 210 cm2 So, breadth of the rectangle = 210/21 = 10 cm Therefore, perimeter of the rectangle = 2 × (length +breadth) = 2 × (10 + 21) = 62 cm
