Question

The area of a square is 169 cm2 which is 38

cm2 less than that of a rectangle. Find the perimeter of the rectangle if the length of the rectangle is 10 cm more than the length of each side of the square.
A 66 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 62 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 68 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 64 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Area of the square = 169 cm2 Length of each side of the square = √169 = 13 cm Area of the rectangle = 169 + 38 = 207 cm2 Length of the rectangle = 10 + 13 = 23 cm So, area of rectangle = length × breadth = 23 × breadth = 207 cm2 So, breadth of the rectangle = 207/23 = 9 cm Therefore, perimeter of the rectangle = 2 × (length +breadth) = 2 × (9 + 23) = 64 cm
