Question

Each side of square ‘A’ is 7 cm less than that of

square ‘B’. The perimeter of a rectangle is 5 times the difference of the perimeters of the two square. If the length of the rectangle is 27 cm, then find its breadth.
A 40 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 45 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 43 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 49 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let each side of the square ‘A’ be ‘a’ cm Therefore, each side of square ‘B’ = (a + 7) cm Difference between their perimeters = 4(a + 7) – 4a = 28 cm Therefore, perimeter of the rectangle = 5 × 28 = 140 cm Let the breadth of the rectangle be ‘b’ cm According to the question, 2 × (27 + b) = 140 Or, 27 + b = 70 Or, b = 43 cm
