    contains 30% water. From 1 Quintals fresh Watermelon, approximately how many kgs of Dry Watermelon can be obtained?

    Solution

    The Content (watermelon) in both the fresh and dry Watermelon is the same. Given, Fresh watermelon has 60% water, So remaining 40% is watermelon content.  Weight of Fresh Watermelon is 1 Quintal i.e., 100 kg Dry Watermelon has 30% water, so remaining 70% is watermelon content. Let weight if dry watermelon be x kg. Watermelon% in Fresh watermelon = Watermelon% in dry watermelon ∴ (40/100) × 100 = (70/100) × x On solving, x = 57.14 ≈ 57 kg
