    If 4 litre of alcohol added in it, the ratio of alcohol to water becomes 5:7. Find the initial quantity of mixture in the container.

    Solution

    Let the initial quantity of alcohol and water be 3x and 7x litre respectively. According to the question, => (3x + 4)/7x = 5/7 => x = 2 Therefore, the initial quantity of mixture in the container = 3x + 7x = 10x = 20 liter
