Question
A mixture contains oil and water in the ratio 7:5. When
70% of this mixture is replaced with 153 litres of water, the ratio becomes 8: 13. Than, what will be the quantity of original mixture?Solution
Ratio of oil and water = 7 : 5 (Initially) Ratio of oil and water = 8 : 13 (After adding 153 litres water) Equating oil from the mixture:- Ratio of oil and water = 56 : 40 (Initially) Ratio of oil and water = 56 : 91 (After adding water) 51 units = 153 litres 1 units = 3 litres Initially quantity of mixture = 96 x 3 = 288 30% -- 288 litres therefore, orginal mixture will be = 100 % --- 960 litres
