    ATQ, Let, the fraction of quantity of milk in mixture 'P' be (a/b) . Fraction of milk in mixture 'Q' = [5/(5 + 1) ] = (5/6) = (20/24) Fraction of milk in the resultant mixture = [17/(17 + 7) ] = (17/24) (1/8) :[(17/24) - (a/b) ] = 3:2 Or, 2 × (1/8) = 3 × [(17/24) - (a/b) ] Or, (1/4) = (17/8) - 3 × (a/b) Or, 3 × (a/b) = (17/8) - (1/4) Or, 3 × (a/b) = (15/8) Or, (a/b) = (15/8) × (1/3) So, (a/b) = (5/8) So, the ratio of milk and water in mixture 'brown rice' = 5:(8 - 5) = 5:3
