Question
A 36-litre mixture of milk and
honey contains them in the ratio 5 : 4. How much honey should be added to the mixture so that the ratio of milk to honey becomes 4 : 9?Solution
ATQ, Initially, Quantity of milk in the mixture = 36 × (5/9) = 20 litres Quantity of honey in the mixture = 36 - 20 = 16 litres Since, only honey is added therefore in the final mixture quantity of milk will remain same Quantity of honey in the final mixture = 20 × (9/4) = 45 litres Therefore, quantity of honey added = 45 - 16 = 29 litres
