Question

    Aman originally had 32 black marbles and 28 white marbles.

    He then purchased (X + 2) additional black marbles and (X + 1) additional white marbles. After making these purchases, the ratio of his total black marbles to total white marbles became 8:7. Later, he lost X black marbles and X white marbles. What is the ratio of the number of black marbles he has left to the number of white marbles he has left?
    A 11:19 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 34:29 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 15:13 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 29:34 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    E 15:11 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Given, (32 + X + 2)/(28 + X + 1) = 8/7

    (34 + X)/(29 + X) = 8/7

    238 + 7X = 232 + 8X

    X = 6

    Required ratio = (32+8-6)/(28+7 - 6) = 34 : 29.
